Lincoln St Christopher’s and St Francis Federation cater for students and pupils between the ages of 3-19 with a range of needs.

We are looking for a full-time teaching assistant to work 1:1 with a KS2 student with a visual impairment, based at our St Francis Special School site.

The successful applicant will be expected to:


o Provide 1:1 support for the pupil throughout the day
o Prepare resources and teaching materials alongside another member of her team.
o Support the pupil with navigation around school and out in the local community.
o Learn Braille as the pupil is a competent Grade 1 Braille user.
o Liaise and communicate effectively with the class teacher to adapt learning and share ideas.
o Liaise with outside agencies and parents, under the guidance of the class teacher.
o Follow and implement provision plans, including programmes from outside agencies.
o Work towards the outcomes of the pupil’s Education Health and Care Plan.

o Excellent interpersonal skills, being able to communicate effectively with pupils, staff,
o parents and other professionals
o A drive to ensure children receive the appropriate support to achieve their potential
o Experience of working in a similar role (desired but not essential).
o Willingness to learn and develop new and existing skills
o The ability to work on their own initiative and as part of a team
o Flexibility and adaptability
o A sense of humour
o A willingness to ‘go the extra mile’

Start date: 1st September 2026
Contract type: 1: 1 - 2 Positions
Grade: 3 SCP 6
Salary: £24,796 pro rata (actual salary £21,267 for FT position)
Hours: Position 1 - 32.5
Position 2 - PT (hours TBC)
Weeks: Term time only plus 1 week
