Claypole Church of England Primary School is currently recruiting for a dedicated School Administrative Assistant to start Monday 2nd November 2026.

Claypole Church of England Primary School is a small, friendly and thriving village school in an attractive, rural location. What the role is:

This is a permanent role starting in September on an ongoing basis working 24 hours a week ( 3 days). You will be responsible for ensuring best value for money on the services school pay for; be responsible for the accuracy, completeness and validity of the payroll returns and for the payment of salaries and wages including PAYE, NIC and superannuation; ensure payments are made to services/providers; support and advise the head teacher on the financial management of the school and other general admin duties (including meeting/greeting people to school & answering phone calls). Sometimes children will come to the office to see if their jumper is in lost property! It’s a varied day in school.

What you'll need to succeed:
As the first point of contact, it is important that the successful applicant has excellent inter-personal skills to interact positively with all members of our school community. The successful candidate will play a key role in welcoming people to our school. They will need to have a positive attitude and a willingness to adapt to situations as they arise. You will need to have recent and relevant experience working in a similar role within a primary school setting. This position would suit a friendly, team player. References will be required.

What you'll be doing:
Providing general administrative and clerical support to the school.
Supporting reception services, welcoming visitors and responding to telephone, email and face-to-face enquiries.
Maintaining accurate records, databases and management information systems.
Preparing correspondence, reports, mail merges, meeting notes and other documentation.
Supporting the administration of school activities, events, visits and wider school processes.
Ordering and maintaining supplies, services and resources.
Assisting with filing, photocopying, printing and other routine office duties.
Ensuring all administrative work is completed accurately, confidentially and within required timescales.

Fluency Duty

In accordance with Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 (Fluency Duty), the ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
