Job Introduction

Bishop King CE Primary School is seeking an excellent Deputy Headteacher to join our Senior Leadership Team.


The position is to start in September 2026 following the retirement of our current Deputy Headteacher.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced school leader who is also an excellent classroom practitioner and wants to have a key role in the school’s future development.


The Deputy Headteacher will work closely with and support the Headteacher, providing strategic and operational leadership to help shape the school’s vision, priorities, and ongoing improvement.


There is no regular teaching commitment, but there will be the expectation for some teaching depending on the needs of the school.

We are looking for a Deputy Headteacher who:


• Has experience of leading teaching and learning across a whole school or phase.
• Has recent experience as an excellent classroom practitioner, the ability to model this for others and support others to improve.
• Can demonstrate their impact in raising standards and improving pupil outcomes.
• Has experience of effective monitoring and evaluation, including providing high-quality, constructive feedback that leads to measurable improvements.
• Has experience of supporting the implementation and delivery of school improvement, including building on existing strengths and taking all members of the school community with them.
• Has a secure knowledge of the primary curriculum (EYFS to Year 6) and effective pedagogy, including the use of evidence-informed approaches and educational research.
• Has knowledge of church school distinctiveness and what this means for children, staff and the wider school community.
• Has strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Demonstrates integrity, resilience, passion and a determination to make a difference to the lives of children.

• Salary Range: L6-10. Salary: £56,316 - £62,202
