EYFS SEND Teaching Assistant (1:1 or Small Group Support)

Contract & Hours:
• Type: Temporary x 2 posts
• Hours:
Post 1 - 32.5hrs
Post 2 - 17.5hrs (afternoons only)

About the Role:
We are looking for a passionate, nurturing, and dedicated EYFS SEND Teaching Assistant to join our warm and inclusive primary school team. In this role, you will work closely with our Early Years teachers and SENDCo to support a young child (or small group of children) with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). You will help them access the EYFS curriculum through engaging, play-based learning and support their personal, social, and emotional development.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide targeted 1:1 and small-group support to children with SEND within the Early Years Foundation Stage.
• Help children develop communication, language, social, and emotional regulation skills.
• Support play-based learning, classroom routines, transitions, and independence.
• Work in partnership with the class teacher, SENDCo, external specialists, and parents/carers.
• Help monitor progress, record observations, and maintain supportive learning records.

What We Are Looking For:
• Experience working with children in an EYFS, nursery, or primary school setting.
• Experience working with neurodivergent pupils or specific training in autism support is highly desirable.
• Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years, Supporting Teaching and Learning, or SEND qualification preferred, though not always essential).
• A calm, patient, resilient, and nurturing approach.
• Strong communication and team-working skills.

Safeguarding & Requirements:

• This post is subject to an Enhanced DBS check for the child workforce.
• Must comply with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) and safer recruitment guidelines.
• Satisfactory professional references are required.
