Job Introduction
To provide effective, compassionate and strategic leadership for Silver Linings Bilborough Primary School which is a small (30 pupils maximum) therapeutic primary provision that has been operating for just one year. The school has recently completed a successful OFSTED inspection with a ‘Good’ outcome, demonstrating the strong foundations, ethos and high-quality practice embedded in its early development.
The Headteacher will work closely with the Executive Headteacher as part of the school improvement process and contribute towards the development of a new secondary provision currently under construction at a nearby site.
They will ensure high-quality teaching, therapeutic support and care for all pupils, many of whom have SEMH and complex needs, promoting trauma‑informed practice and the PACE model throughout the school.
Leadership and Management
· Provide clear and purposeful leadership that reflects the school’s values, ethos and commitment to the PACE model
· Work closely with the Executive Headteacher to align vision, standards and development.
· Lead, support and motivate staff including teachers, support staff and the therapeutic team
· Implement strategic school improvement plans and monitor impact
· Ensure high expectations for academic, social and emotional development
· Oversee safeguarding and ensure compliance with statutory requirements
· Support the planning and development of the new secondary provision
Teaching, Learning and Assessment
· Ensure teaching and learning meet the needs of pupils with a range of SEND, including SEMH
· Maintain a broad, balanced and engaging curriculum
· Monitor and evaluate classroom practice, providing coaching and feedback
· Lead high-quality assessment systems supporting individualised learning pathways
Pupil Support and Welfare
· Embed trauma-informed and relational approaches across the school
· Promote the PACE model in daily interactions and behaviour support
· Ensure pupils receive effective therapeutic input from the qualified therapist
· Lead multi‑agency work to support pupils and families
Staff Development and HR
· Oversee recruitment, induction and development of all staff
· Lead performance management and ensure staff receive training in SEND and therapeutic approaches
· Promote staff wellbeing and a positive working environment
Finance, Resources and Compliance
· Work with governors and the business manager to manage the school budget effectively
· Oversee safe and efficient use of school resources
· Ensure compliance with statutory duties including safeguarding, SEND, health & safety and equality
Community and Stakeholder Engagement
· Develop strong relationships with parents, carers and families
· Represent the school in the community and with external agencies
· Communicate effectively with the governing body and provide clear reports
