The children, Headteacher, staff and Governors of South View Community Primary School are seeking to appoint an inspiring, ambitious, and dynamic Attendance Officer to join our experienced, skilled and committed staff team.

This is a permanent position from September 2025, or sooner for the right candidate. The hours will be 21 hours a week and the pattern of work is negotiable at interview e.g. mornings only, 3 x7 hr days etc.

This role would involve working with the Senior Leadership Team predominantly to improve attendance by offering support to families in overcoming barriers such as lack of motivation, emotional difficulties, behavioural difficulties etc. The successful candidate will be confident in holding informal meetings with parents and formal attendance meetings, as well as being involved in ‘Team around the Child’, ‘Child in Need’ and ‘Child Protection’ Meetings. There would be an expectation that the successful candidate would undertake Designated Safeguarding Lead training.
The main responsibilities, tasks and duties would be:
- To assist in the compilation of attendance reports.
- To assist in the analysis of school attendance registers.
- To assist in the inputting of attendance data onto the school management system.
- To liaise with parents and carers regarding issues relating to attendance.
- To coordinate the authorisation of absences and liaise with parents and staff, ensuring reasons for absence are communicated appropriately.
We are seeking an Attendance Officer who:
- Has experience working supportively with families formally and informally.
- Has a knowledge of the governments attendance guidelines, policy and procedure.
- Has experience working with Lead Professionals, Early Help Workers and/or Children’s Social Care.
- Has experience with TAC, CIN and CP meetings.
- Has high expectations of every child and values each child’s voice.
- Is well organised, dedicated and enthusiastic.
- Is thoughtful, intelligent, creative and reflective.
- Enjoys working as part of a wider team of dedicated and skilled staff.
- Is able to form positive relationships with children and parents so all can thrive.
- Is solution focused when presented with challenges and barriers to progress.
- Shares our school values and demonstrates these in their interactions with others.
