Job Introduction
We are a small, friendly primary school located in the heart of Withern, Lincolnshire, welcoming children aged 4 to 11. At St. Margaret’s, we pride ourselves on our strong sense of community, supportive environment, and commitment to helping every child thrive.
We are currently seeking 1:1 Teaching Assistants to join our dedicated team. The roles will involve supporting two of our younger pupils within our mixed EYFS/Year 1 and year 2 classes. The successful candidate will play a key part in helping these children access their learning, develop confidence, and feel secure in our nurturing school environment.
32.5 hours per week are available
39 weeks of the year (Temporary contract—whilst child on roll)
Hours will be discussed during the interview.
We welcome part-time applications, however the whole school day must be covered
Monday to Friday to cover the school day 8.40am – 3.15pm
The successful candidates will be passionate practitioners who can:
• Have a patient, compassionate, and proactive approach to supporting a child regulate their emotions.
• work under the direction of the class teacher and modify learning to suit the child’s needs.
• assess the child’s learning against Individual Education Plan and Education, Health and Care Plan targets.
• Understand safeguarding practices and a commitment to creating a safe, inclusive environment for all children
• Have the ability to work closely, in partnership with colleagues, as a team member and be able to overcome and resolve challenges
• Be able to be self-directed, proactive, highly organised and punctual with good attendance
• Show enthusiasm, dedication, creativity and flexibility
• Maintain a calm and consistent approach to working with children
• Use good communication skills with colleagues, children and parents
• Have a great sense of humour and fun
• Demonstrate professional behaviour including professional confidentiality
Person Specification
Essential:
• Experience of working with children who have an EHCP.
• Ability to remain calm, patient, and solution-focused under pressure.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A positive, nurturing approach, with the ability to build strong relationships.
• Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
• Willingness to undertake relevant training (e.g., Team Teach, Trauma-Informed Practice).
Desirable:
• Previous experience supporting pupils with an EHCP.
• Knowledge of therapeutic or restorative approaches.
• Qualifications in SEN, behaviour management, or mental health support.
