Cliffedale Primary is seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Bursar to join our friendly and hardworking team as soon as possible. This is a key role supporting the financial operations of the school, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
About the Role
As our Bursar, you will be responsible for managing the school’s HR, financial systems and processes, budget monitoring, and ensuring that all financial and HR procedures are followed. You will work closely with the Headteacher to maintain accurate records and support the school’s financial health.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to -
• Managing financial administration including invoicing, reconciliation, and budget tracking
• Processing payments and maintaining accurate records
• Supporting procurement and contract management
• Liaising with external agencies such as the Local Authority and DfE
• Producing financial reports for senior leaders and governors
• Ensuring compliance with HR and financial regulations, GDPR, and school policies
• Managing and supporting school-based projects, including financial planning and resource allocation
• Maintaining secure and confidential handling of data in line with GDPR requirement
• Maintaining all HR records including recruitment, Safer Recruitment, onboarding and offboarding staff, disciplinaries, absence management etc.
We Are Looking for Someone Who –
• Has previous experience in financial management, ideally within a school or public sector setting
• Is confident using financial software and Microsoft Excel
• Has excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
• Communicates clearly and professionally with colleagues and external partners
• Is proactive, organised, reliable, and able to work independently as well as part of a team and has a positive solution focused attitude
• Understands the importance of confidentiality and discretion
