Job Introduction

Woodlands Infant and Nursery School is seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Bursar to join our dedicated team. This is a key role supporting the financial operations of the school, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in line with our “Take Off and Fly” motto.

Hours: Monday and Tuesday, 15 hours per week
Contract: Term time only (39 weeks) plus 5 INSET days
Monday and Tuesday, 8.30am – 4.30pm (30 minutes’ lunch break) or shorter hours across the week, if suitable for both parties

About the Role
As our Bursar, you will be responsible for managing the school’s financial systems and processes, supporting budget monitoring, and ensuring that financial procedures are followed. You will work closely with the Headteacher and School Administrator to maintain accurate records and support the school’s financial health.

Key Responsibilities
• Managing financial administration including invoicing, reconciliation, and budget tracking
• Processing payments and maintaining accurate records
• Supporting procurement and contract management
• Liaising with external agencies such as the Local Authority and auditors
• Producing financial reports for senior leaders and governors
• Ensuring compliance with financial regulations, GDPR, and school policies
• Supporting the wider administrative team when required
• Managing and supporting school-based projects, including financial planning and resource allocation
• Maintaining secure and confidential handling of data in line with GDPR requirements

We Are Looking For Someone Who:
• Has previous experience in financial administration, ideally within a school or public sector setting
• Is confident using financial software and Microsoft Excel
• Has excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
• Communicates clearly and professionally with colleagues and external partners
• Is proactive, reliable, and able to work independently
• Understands the importance of confidentiality and discretion
