Job Introduction
Sir Francis Hill Community Primary are seeking a Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprentice (SEND Pathway) to join our team at Sir Francis Hill. This is a rewarding opportunity for those passionate about supporting young people and are confident working with a range of challenges. The training will be in partnership with Priory Apprenticeships, which offers a strong foundation for a career in education, in a supportive environment.
This fantastic opportunity will develop your skills as a Teaching Assistant whilst working with individual children having special or particular needs, and with groups of children as directed by the teacher. You will also provide support to the Inclusion Team and Class Teachers across a range of child-centred activities to promote child development and learning.
Key duties include:
- Assist teachers in preparing lesson materials and resources.
- Support pupils with learning activities, both individually and in groups.
- Help manage classroom behaviour and maintain a positive learning environment.
- Provide extra support for pupils with special educational needs (SEND).
- Supervise pupils during breaks, lunchtimes, and outings.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as marking, record-keeping, and organising supplies.
- Encourage and support pupil engagement, confidence, and progress.
- Collaborate with teachers to adapt resources and activities to meet pupils’ needs.
- Foster a safe and inclusive environment for all pupils.
- Observe and report pupil progress to teachers and senior staff.
- To adhere to Health and Safety Regulations

Qualifications required:
Minimum of 2 GCSEs. Must include English and Maths, grade 4 or above, A* to C or equivalent.
Training:
Priory Apprenticeships are leading provider of apprenticeships designed specifically for education. During your apprenticeship, you will work closely with experts to gain the skills, knowledge and behaviour you need to be a successful and qualified learning Support Assistant. The level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship is an 18 month programme (plus 3 point EPA) delivered through practical, on-the-job training, workshops and mentoring. Upon completion of the course you will have achieved the Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.
Future Prospects:
On completion of the apprenticeship, there may be an opportunity for the role to be made permanent, with the opportunity to undertake further training.
