Job Introduction

Fosse Way Academy requires a Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENDCO) and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead.


Start Date: September 2025


Contract Type: Full time, permanent, non-class based


Fosse Way Academy is a large, popular and successful school with a fantastic team, a supportive Governing body and children who are eager to learn. We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, dedicated and experienced SENDCO to lead and develop our inclusive provision and champion the needs of our pupils with SEND.

This is a non-class based position that also includes responsibility as one of the school’s Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads.


We are looking for someone who:
- Is an experienced teacher with QTS and holds or is working towards the National SENCO Award
- Has a strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and current safeguarding legislation
- Demonstrates excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills
- Is committed to ensuring that every child receives the support they need to thrive
- Can work effectively with pupils, families, staff and a wide range of external agencies
- Has a passion for inclusion and promoting the best outcomes for all pupils

Fluency Duty

In accordance with Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 (Fluency Duty), the ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
