Teaching Assistant Level 1
The Headteacher and Governors of Great Steeping Primary School wish to appoint a Level 1 Teaching Assistant to work with individual children with additional needs in accordance with their individual support plans. This would be a fixed-term contract for one year for 18.75 hours a week across 5 days (8:45 am – 12:30pm). Anticipated start date 01.09.2026 (negotiable for the right candidate).
L.C.C Pay Scale – G3 Point 6-9 £26,473 to £27,699 pro rata
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated practitioner to join our team.
You will:
Support children’s learning and development through play-based, child-centred activities.
Contribute towards creating a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment.
Work collaboratively with the teacher, colleagues, parents and carers to ensure every child thrives.
Be a warm and caring individual who welcomes every child, supports their needs and creates an inclusive environment for children to feel a sense of belonging.
Prioritise safeguarding and children’s wellbeing.
Support and oversee children during snack and lunch times, in line with EYFS guidance when necessary.
Support children with personal care when required.
What we’re looking for
Qualifications: Paediatric first aid desirable (training will need to be undertaken if not already qualified).
Experience: Have previously worked with pupils with SEND and have a knowledge of developing early language, including WellComm and the ShREC approach is desirable (although training can be given).
Skills: Warm, caring and enthusiastic with strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Commitment: Passionate about supporting children’s wellbeing, learning and development.
