30 hours per week
39 weeks of the year
To start on 1st September 2026 (Temporary contract until 31st August 2027)
Monday to Friday to cover the school day 8.45am – 3.15pm
We are a small, friendly primary school located in the heart of Withern, Lincolnshire, welcoming children aged 4 to 11. At St. Margaret’s, we pride ourselves on our strong sense of community, supportive environment, and commitment to helping every child thrive.
We are currently seeking a Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team. The role will split between supporting a reception child and a Year 4 child in a mixed 3 and 4 class. The successful candidate will play a key part in helping these children access their learning, develop confidence, and feel secure in our nurturing school environment.
The successful candidates will be passionate practitioners who can:
● Have a patient, compassionate, and proactive approach to supporting a child to regulate their emotions.
● work under the direction of the class teacher and modify learning to suit the child’s needs.
● Assess the child’s learning against Individual Education Plan and Education, Health and Care Plan targets.
● Understand safeguarding practices and a commitment to creating a safe, inclusive environment for all children
● Have the ability to work closely, in partnership with colleagues, as a team member and be able to overcome and resolve challenges
● Be able to be self-directed, proactive, highly organised and punctual with good attendance
● Show enthusiasm, dedication, creativity and flexibility
● Use good communication skills with colleagues, children and parents
● Demonstrate professional behaviour including professional confidentiality
Person Specification
Essential:
• Ability to remain calm, patient, and solution-focused under pressure.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A positive, nurturing approach, with the ability to build strong relationships.
• Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
• Willingness to undertake relevant training (e.g., Team Teach, Trauma-Informed Practice).
Desirable:
• Previous experience supporting pupils with an EHCP.
• Knowledge of therapeutic or restorative approaches.
• Qualifications in SEN, behaviour management, or mental health support.
Use or learn AAC (e.g. PECS, visual supports, gestures) to support communication.
