Job Introduction
Some people love knowing exactly what their working day will look like. However, this role will suit someone who enjoys variety, responds calmly when plans change and gets stuck in wherever they can make a massive difference.
We’re looking for a Teaching Assistant with SEND experience and skills to work flexibly across our school. You might be supporting a child or children in class, delivering a targeted intervention, stepping in to help a team that needs an extra pair of hands, or helping at lunch time. You may also provide additional or cover support in our brand-new Inclusion Hub, which is due to open soon.
Our vision, ‘Love to learn and learn to love’, runs through everything we do. Relationships and respect matter enormously to us, as does making sure every child is in a position to learn successfully. We’re looking for someone who shares that commitment and shares our school values.
It’s a demanding role, and we want to be honest about that. You’ll need to move between classes, children and priorities (sometimes at short notice). But it’s a brilliant opportunity to build relationships across the school, use your skills in different ways and see the difference your support makes.
You could be just who we’re looking for if you:
• Bring SEND experience, patience and a determination to help children succeed.
• Can adapt your approach to different children, needs and situations.
• Stay organised and communicate clearly when priorities change.
• Notice where help is needed and use your initiative, while knowing when to ask for support.
• Enjoy being part of a team and have a great sense of humour. We love a good laugh here!
Visits are warmly encouraged so you can see what we’re all about. One of our brilliant Teaching Assistants will show you around, answer your questions and give you an honest insight into life at our school. Please also do look on our website for further information.
The Edward Richardson Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
