1:1 Teaching Assistant

Job Introduction

Grantham Belmont Community Primary School are looking to appoint a motivated and committed 1:1 teaching assistant to work with a child in lower KS2. The role is temporary for the duration of the child attending Belmont CP School.

The successful candidate should:


• Have an awareness and understanding of how to support the development of a child with complex additional needs
• Preferably have experience of supporting pupils with complex needs or be willing to undertake further training in this area
• Preferably have experience of working within a school or nursery setting
• Be able to foster excellent working relationships with children and adults
• Be caring, enthusiastic and creative
• Be willing to try a variety of strategies to support the pupil’s development and wellbeing
• Be able work as part of our dynamic and supportive staff team
• Be hardworking, reliable, flexible and have the best interests of the pupil at the core of everything they do

This role will include:

• Supporting the child with their learning activities, attending to any additional learning needs, and supporting their overall development
• Following strategies and provision outlined in the pupil’s SEND passport
• Supporting the child with establishing the structures of the school day and routines and boundaries
• The preparation of appropriate resources to ensure the child has full access to the curriculum
• Contributing to the well-being and personal care of the pupil
• Working collaboratively with all stakeholders - specialist teachers, teaching staff and parents
• Being the first point of contact between the school and the pupil’s parents
