1:1 Teaching Assistant

Job Introduction

The Headteacher and Governing Body of St George’s Church of England Community Primary School are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, flexible, experienced and inspirational Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team.


The post will commence in early February 2026 or sooner if possible.


We are looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant to provide 20 hours of support per week for a Key Stage 2 pupil, working 4 hours per day (11:00am–3:00pm), Monday to Friday, during school term time and teacher training days. The post will continue until the pupils’ needs change or they leave the school.


We are seeking a creative, caring and committed practitioner with a passion for providing high-quality educational provision. It is essential that the successful candidate is sensitive to the individual needs of each child, ensuring that these do not inhibit their access to all aspects of school life or their progress across the curriculum.


This role offers excellent opportunities for professional development and the chance to develop a wide range of skills in classroom pedagogy, individual pupil support and holistic child development, within a supportive and experienced staff team.


The successful applicant will be expected to:
• Provide support for pupils’ additional needs throughout the school day
• Work towards outcomes detailed in the pupils’ Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
• Follow and implement provision plans, including programmes recommended by external agencies
• Prepare appropriate resources and teaching materials
• Liaise closely with the class teacher and SENDCo
• Liaise with parents and external agencies, under the guidance of the class teacher and SENDCo

Fluency Duty

In accordance with Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 (Fluency Duty), the ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
