1:1 Teaching Assistant

Job Introduction

A 1-1 Teaching Assistant is required starting as soon as possible; 15 hours per week (temporary until the end of the Summer term).

St Peter at Gowts is an inclusive school where our highly motivated teaching staff work hard to support our SEND children. We currently have a 1-1 Teaching Assistant post available working to support a child in our Nursery provision every morning for 3 hours a day.

The successful candidate will be committed to ensuring every child succeeds, have excellent communication skills and be able to work on their own initiative. It would be desirable for candidates to hold GSCE Maths and English.

We are looking for a professional colleague who can:

  • assist with the planning and preparation of activities and implement provision plans including programmes from outside agencies
  • take an active role in the planning, delivery and assessment of specific intervention programmes
  • promote a child’s development and learning (physical, emotional, educational and social) whilst fostering growth, self-esteem and independence
  • be willing to learn and develop existing skills.
  • act in accordance with school policies and procedures and relevant legislation


The post is temporary until the assistance is no longer required or the child leaves the school, whichever is earliest.

Fluency Duty
