Grade: G4 09 Salary: £15,786.56 (£1315.55 per calendar month)
Permanent - Part-time
Hours: 25 per week, Monday – Friday, Term time only + 5 training days + 2 weeks in the summer holidays
Start Date As soon as possible in February 2026.

We are seeking a caretaker who is keen to be an active part of school life, who can work flexibly, use their initiative, and respond positively to the day-to-day needs of a busy primary school.
The role of the Caretaker is to maintain and secure the school premises, ensuring a safe, clean and functional environment. This includes cleaning, basic building maintenance, groundskeeping, championing Health and Safety, supervising contractors and assisting with setting up school facilities.
Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Conduct daily site checks to keep all areas safe for pupils and staff
Assist with emergencies, site enquiries and winter maintenance such as gritting paths
Being responsible for the cleanliness of the school premises, including ordering, storing and maintaining cleaning supplies and equipment, and managing waste disposal and collection
Ensuring the school buildings and site are secure, including acting as a key holder and carrying out routine and non-routine locking and unlocking
Keeping appropriate records and completing risk assessments to ensure compliance with Health and Safety requirements
Undertaking general portage duties, including moving furniture and equipment within the school
Carrying out minor repairs, cleaning and maintenance both inside and outside (not requiring a qualified craftsperson)
Operating systems such as heating, lighting and security
Receiving deliveries and liaising with external contractors.
Applicants should have strong practical skills and a sound understanding of Health and Safety, including a good working knowledge of COSHH. Basic IT skills are required to use our compliance system and communication systems.
Experience of working in an educational setting is not essential but would be welcomed. Knowledge of intruder alarms and heating systems would be an advantage.
