Gedney Hill C of E Primary School is seeking an organised and highly motivated individual to join our school community as the Clerk to the Board of Governors. This crucial role provides administrative support to the Board, ensuring smooth and effective governance within the school. The successful candidate will play an essential part in the preparation, coordination, and documentation of meetings, as well as providing guidance on legal and procedural matters to the Board of Governors.

The Clerk to the Board of Governors will work with the Chair of Governors, the Executive Headteacher and other governors to ensure the smooth and effective running of the business of the Board of Governors, including:

• Providing advice on governance, legal, constitutional and procedural matters
• Proactively supporting the governing body and its committees in the conduct of their duties (e.g., organising meetings and producing / circulating / storing necessary documentation)
• Managing information effectively in accordance with legal requirements
• Ensuring the governing body is properly constituted
• Keep up to date in terms of current legislation and practice via training to enable the above

Training can be offered if needed.

Fluency Duty

In accordance with Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 (Fluency Duty), the ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
