Early Years Teaching Assistant

Job Introduction

Normanby by Spital Primary School is seeking an Early Years Teaching Assistant (part time) in a mixed age Preschool, Reception and Year 1 Class - 4 to 5 days per week (subject to staffing requirements) The role is required to start during Term 1 of the  2025/26 school year.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced, warm and caring Teaching Assistant to work within our Early Years classroom. This is a temporary position to cover maternity leave; the length of employment is subject to the commencement and length of the maternity leave period.


We are looking for someone with:
• A proven track record of working with children using positive behaviour strategies
• A proactive and caring approach to developing children’s learning
• Excellent communication and team working skills
• The ability to promote social development and learning

Under the supervision and support of the Early Years lead, you will be expected to plan, organise and deliver engaging learning experiences that support the wellbeing, social and academic development of our very youngest pupils. We are looking for someone who is patient, caring, forward thinking and solution focussed with the drive to make a difference. Knowledge of the Early Years Curriculum as well as experience of working with children in this age group is essential.


The applicant will need Level 3 NVQ in Early Years Care and Education or the Level 3 CACHE Diploma in Childcare and Education (equivalent).
