Job Introduction
Queen Elizabeth's High School is seeking to appoint a dedicated non-teaching staff member to support and drive the academic progress of Sixth Form students, ensuring they achieve their full potential in A-levels, and post-16 qualifications whilst they are preparing for their next steps in higher education, apprenticeships, or employment.
The role of Sixth form Pastoral and Progress Officer (6PPO) would ideally suit an individual with a strong commitment to student well-being and academic success. Ideal candidates will have experience supporting young people, particularly in a post-16 or secondary school setting, and be confident managing safeguarding concerns with professionalism. They will be passionate about helping Sixth Form students navigate both academic and personal challenges, with a clear understanding of how emotional wellbeing and mental health impact progress. The successful individual will be proactive in tracking and supporting student attendance, behaviour, and academic performance, using data to inform early intervention strategies. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to build positive relationships with students, families and staff are essential. This is a role for someone who can contribute meaningfully to a culture of high expectations, inclusion and belonging, and continuous improvement.
