Sir Francis Hill Primary School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated School Business Manager to support and take a leading role in the school regarding finance, HR, premises and health and safety. They will be an active member of the school’s Senior Leadership Team working closely with the Headteacher.

They will act as direct line manager for a number of administrative, premises and administrative staff; support the leadership team with strategic decision making; work alongside the governors to provide finance and HR support and work as a team through relevant tendering processes with external service contracts. We are a fully maintained, prime account school and as such, the successful candidate will be responsible for the management of the school finances, bank accounts and all elements of the HR functions of the school, including the supervision of payroll, liaising with our external HR providers.

The successful candidate will:


• Have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a financial or business management environment. Previous experience working in a school business setting is essential.
• Promote the highest standards of business ethos within the administrative function of the school, ensuring the most effective use of resources and thinking widely and innovatively to maximise the quality of education for our pupils.
• Have the capacity to manage the School’s HR function by liaising with our external HR services.
• Be accountable for the probity, efficiency and accuracy of payroll and finance systems and processes.
• Be responsible for financial resource management.
• Be responsible for the procurement, selection, management, maintenance, repair and safekeeping of resources, including meeting the requirements of regular audits
• Have up to date knowledge of best practice when managing the Pupil Premium, sports and SEND grants in order to support the Senior Leadership Team to maximise its potential impact
• Have delegated day-to-day responsibility for all health and safety matters, including maintaining and developing systems, policies, procedures and working practices; including the measures to be taken in the event of emergencies
• Be excellent at prioritisation and coping effectively with the pressures of a demanding role.
