Teaching Assistant

Job Introduction

The Marston Thorold's Charity CE Primary School requires a Teaching Assistant, to commence September 2025.


The Governors are delighted to be able to advertise this post to support our highly experienced staff in our village church school to ensure the needs of all pupils are met effectively. In the first instance this post is to provide enhanced provision for two pupils with Special Educational Needs, both of which have an ECHP and also to support a mixed age EYFS and Key Stage 1 class.

We would welcome and support colleagues who are able to fulfil the following requirements:

• Has experience of working in EYFS/KS1
• Has experience of delivering interventions such as phonics
• Preferably has experience of working in a mixed age class
• Has experience of supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disability;
• Has a variety of skills to support and manage pupils with special educational needs;
• Has an empathic and nurturing nature;
• Is enthusiastic, committed and professional;
• Can use their initiative;
• Works well as part of a team
• Has a strong working knowledge of supporting children with behavioural challenges
• Willingness to enhance and demonstrate the vision and values of our school

The role

The children the successful candidate will be enthusiastic and affectionate, with a positive attitude to discovery and learning. The role will require someone with a caring, patient attitude and the ability to recognise and celebrate small steps in learning whilst encouraging independence and maintaining dignity. Previous experience of tailoring curriculum requirements to suit a child’s Additional Educational Needs and Disabilities would be an advantage. The successful applicant must also be flexible, enjoy working as part of a team and liaise effectively with parents and other professional agencies.

The successful applicants will ideally hold a relevant qualification (NVQ Level 3 or above, in the field of education) or have a proven track record of experience as a 1:1 TA within a primary school setting.

Fluency Duty

In accordance with Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 (Fluency Duty), the ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
