Job Introduction
Sir Francis Hill Primary School are looking to appoint a SENDCO to join our busy, three form entry school, on a part time, permanent basis.
We require an enthusiastic and highly committed SENDCO who will take a creative approach to working with our pupils according to their educational needs, ensuring delivery of the school curriculum in a way that maximises children's achievement and ability to develop.
Working as a key part of our Inclusion Team, the successful candidate will have high expectations of what all children can achieve. Regardless of barriers, they will believe that all children will thrive if given appropriate support. The successful candidate will have had experience as a SENDCO, leading and drive change in schools.
The key features of the role include:
• Lead the operation of the school’s SEN policy and coordination of specific provision to support individual students with SEN or a disability.
• Advising on a graduated approach to providing SEN Support.
• Liaising with parents of children with SEN.
• Liaising with other schools, external professionals and independent or voluntary bodies and being a key point of contact with external agencies.
• Liaising with potential next providers of education to ensure that pupils and their parents are informed about options and a smooth transition is planned.
• Working with the Headteacher and school governors to ensure that the school meets its responsibilities under the Equality Act (2010) with regard to reasonable adjustments and access arrangements.
• Monitoring and evaluating provision and progress.
• Working with staff supporting them to try a variety of teaching approaches with students in their class with SEN needs.
• Ensure the effective development of the SEND hubs at our school
