Technician – Science & Technology

Job Introduction


William Lovell Church Of England Academy are seeking a Technician – Science & Technology to join their team.

The successful candidate will work to support Science, Design & Technology. To support the effective delivery of education by providing support to teaching staff and pupils.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Supporting teachers in preparation of learning materials.

Assisting in practical sessions where required.

Responsible for Health and Safety checks and risk assessments; ensuring high standards and ensuring guidance is always adhered to.

Maintaining all classrooms and working areas including the prep rooms.

Ensure maintenance of the equipment and materials used in each area.

Preparing equipment, materials, ingredients, chemicals and specimens for practical sessions and examinations, including constructing and setting up equipment as required.

Cleaning equipment and classrooms after practical lessons.

Science - Making up and ensuring the availability of standard solutions and other agents in all appropriate working areas.

Science - Developing and maintaining areas for living specimens to thrive and grow.

Science - Ensuring that living specimens (plants and animals) are cared for appropriately.

Managing stock levels

Using knowledge of COSHH regulations.

Support in First Aid provision across the STEM Cluster.


Present a positive personal image, contributing to a welcoming school environment which supports equal opportunities for all.


Perform, in accordance with any directions, which may reasonably be given to you by your Line Manager or Headteacher from time to time, such particular duties as may reasonably be assigned.

To play a part in the application of Health and Safety procedures of the academy, including reporting concerns to STEM Cluster Lead.
